Petmin is an empowered mining company, with a 28.3% shareholding by historically disadvantaged South Africans. This exceeds the Mining Charter’s target of 26% by 2014.

Petmin management is focused on transforming its operations and pays special attention to procurement, community development, enterprise development, employment equity, and the development of women.

Petmin’s Transformation Committee is being restructured as a Social Ethics and Transformation Committee, with terms of reference to be published in the 2012/13 financial year.

Petmin supports the government’s goal of bringing about widespread change in the mining industry and subscribes fully to the principles of the sector’s Broad-based Socio-economic Charter for the Mining Industry (Mining Charter), adopted in October 2002 and revised in September 2010, through collaborative processes between the mining industry and the government.
